Hattie Fox

Hattie Ellen Fox, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, died on June 21, 2019 at the age of 85.

Ellen was born November 4, 1933 in Bell County, Texas to Hattie Mae Fellers Boone and Willie Granvel Boone. She was married for 43 years to Thomas Rial Fox, who died in 2006. Ellen is predeceased by her parents, all six siblings, infant daughter, and her much loved son, Roger Dale Hooper.

Early in life, Ellen dreamed of being a nurse, but instead devoted her life to taking care of her family and friends. Ellen loved to be behind the wheel, and when her own sons were raised, she discovered the perfect occupation.....driving a school bus for the Garland school district, allowing her to take care of children and be on the go at the same time. Ellen loved playing dominos and Skip Bo, and she could whip up a country breakfast like no other. And for a person who didn't care much for drinking, she sure did love the occasional margarita. Ellen was passionate about family history research and spent many a road trip exploring civil war battlefields and searching for the headstones of those who came before us. She is a descendant of the pioneer and statesman Daniel Boone. And now, with life's memories forged and her legacy written, she will join her place among them.

Ellen will be lovingly remembered by her three surviving sons; Michael, Thomas and Ray Fox; 10 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, to include those of honorary status.

The family would like to express their appreciation to Karla Jean Underhill-Cameron and Billy Cameron for their loving care in Ellen's final year.

The family will receive friends at a visitation Wednesday, July 3, from 6:00 pm to 8 pm at the Charles W. Smith and Sons Funeral Home, 2925 5th Street, Sachse, Texas. A memorial service will be held Friday, July 5 at 10:00 am. Interment will be at the Dallas Fort Worth Veterans Cemetery at 2:00 pm.
