Harvey Dale Angel

Harvey Dale Angel, 89, of Wylie, Texas passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2019. Harvey was born in Oakland, California on March 3, 1930, and grew up in California with his parents, John Boynton and Lucy Augusta (Jeffers) Angel and his six siblings.

Harvey joined the United States Air Force in 1950 at the age of 20, and one year later, December 7, 1951 married his lifelong sweetheart Betty Jean Andricks in San Antonio, Texas. He commissioned to the United States Air Force in 1956 where he retired as a Lieutenant Colonel serving as a Signals Intelligence Officer in the United States Air Force. He retired in 1974 after 24 years of military service. After living in various states and countries, Harvey settled with his wife Betty in Wylie, Texas, where they lived happily for the past 20 years.

Harvey retired from the military and felt called into the ministry. He went to Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. The first church he pastored was the Allena Baptist Church in San Antonio, Texas. After a period of time Harvey returned to Haleiwa, Hawaii to pastor a church that he had helped to start earlier while in the military. Harvey retired from his professional ministerial career in 2003 after 29 years of ministerial service.

Harvey was a decorated and honored service member with numerous awards during his time in the military. Three honors that Harvey was especially proud of being the Bronze Star Medal, three Meritorious Service Medals and two Air Force Commendation Medals. Harvey served in the military during the Korean War, the Vietnam War, The Bay of Pigs and The Cold War.

Harvey is survived by his wife of 67 years, Betty Jean Angel; son, Harvey Dale Angel Jr. (Texas) daughters, Elena Suzanne Crossen (Alaska), Karen Kelani Angel (Texas), Lorraine Leinani Foltz (Texas). Grandchildren; Jonathan Angel (Texas), Lisa Angel (Oregon), Sara Mcferran (Oklahoma); Tanya Angel-Chun (Texas); Amanda Burkett (Colorado); Micah Angel (Texas); Sierra Angel (Texas). 7 Great- Grandchildren. Proceeded in death by his parents, brother and sisters, and sons James Alan Angel and David Lin Angel.

Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday July 30, 2019 from 6:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at Charles W. Smith & Sons Funeral Homes in Sachse.

Harvey's funeral service will be held July 31, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. at Murphy Road Baptist Church. Dr. Mark Forrest will officiate.

Burial will follow at The Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery at 12:30P.M.
