Gregory Scott Rogers

With great sadness we announce that Gregory Scott Rogers, age 59, of McKinney, Texas, passed away on February 6, 2024. Greg will be deeply missed and was loved by so many. 

Greg was born May 6, 1964 to parents Doyle and Lenda Rogers at Luke Air Force Base in Phoenix, AZ. His life took him to North Bay, Ontario, Canada where he became a big brother to his sister, Deidra. Their journey took them back to his grandparents town of Savoy, TX while his dad served in Thailand. Florida became his next home, then on to South Carolina where he began school and finally back to DeSoto, TX where he graduated from DeSoto High School in 1982. 

Greg attended Stephen F. Austin College and then returned to Dallas where he began working for the Dallas Times Herald and the Dallas Morning News. He remained there for 40 years until his passing. He truly did see the change of times. 

Greg was best known for his mellow personality and determination in everything he did. Greg enjoyed collecting ceramic eagles and sports memorabilia, traveling, and spending time with his family. He was an avid Dallas Mavericks and Texas Rangers fan. Greg was a dedicated father, husband, and son.

 Greg is survived by wife, Sheilah Adams Rogers; children Kirby Rogers and Macey Rogers; mother Lenda High, Father Doyle Rogers and his wife Donna; siblings Deidra Morrow, Jeffie Burns, Tami Schwitzer, Wendy Hollabaugh, Don Duncan, and David Duncan; as well as many other nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Greg was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Clifford and Sallie Kennedy; paternal grandparents Louise and Doyle Rogers Sr.; stepfather R.W. High; brother-in-law David Morrow; and nephew Jonathon Nelms.

 Visitation will be held at Charles W. Smith Funeral Home in McKinney, TX on Monday February 12th from 10am-12pm. The funeral will follow from 12pm-1pm. A memorial marker in honor of Greg will be placed at the Fairview Cemetery located North of Ector, TX, next to his maternal grandparents and family.
