Derene was born on February 8, 1937 in Winnsboro, Texas. The family later moved to Garland, Texas. After graduating high school and attending North Texas State University, she then married Coy Watkins. She enjoyed painting, travel, playing the piano and singing. She loved the Lord and would burst out singing a gospel song at any time.Derene Ragan Watkins, age 80 went home to be with the Lord on November 16, 2017. A Celebration of Life service will be held to celebrate her life, Monday, November 20th at 2:00pm, at Lavon Assembly of God Church, 301 Main Street, Lavon, Texas. A family and friends visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 1:00pm, at the church.Derene is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Coy Watkins. Sisters Renee Stewart and husband Jack, and Glenna Ijames. Brother and sister, In lawas June Nance and husband RIchard, Troy Watkins and wife Glenda, Benny Watkins and wife Margie, and Marilyn Watkins Henserling and husband Ken. Numerous nieces and nephews and loving friends.
