Glenn Richard Dickey January 7, 1946 – January 8, 2025
Glenn Richard Dickey, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2025, in the hospital, surrounded by his family.
Born on January 7, 1946, in Fresno, California, Glenn lived a life of service, love, and adventure. He honorably served his country as a Marine in Vietnam. Upon returning home, he moved to Newport Beach, California, where he began working at Western Digital. It was there that he met the love of his life, Dahl. Their love story began at a company Christmas party when, under the mistletoe, Glenn shared his first kiss with Dahl. Just six months later, on June 23, 1973, they were married, beginning a journey of love and partnership that would last a lifetime.
Together, they built a beautiful life in San Jose, California, where they started their family. Glenn’s career took them to Texas in 1994, and in 2001, they settled in Murphy. There, they created a warm and welcoming home that became a gathering place for loved ones. They raised three children — Amy, April, and Glenn Alan — and Glenn was a proud grandfather to seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Beyond his dedication to family and work, Glenn had a lifelong passion for riding his motorcycle. He served as Road Captain for the Panther Creek chapter of the Harley Owners Group, where he shared an appreciation for the freedom of the open road with his fellow riders.
Even in retirement, Glenn continued to serve his community. He worked as a crossing guard, and he was an active member of his HOA’s board.
In 2019, Dahl was diagnosed with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP), a rare neurodegenerative disease. Glenn lovingly cared for her at home throughout her illness, demonstrating the devotion that defined their marriage. Glenn and Dahl were married for over 50 years until her passing in April of 2024.
Glenn will be remembered for his steadfast love for his family, his deep sense of duty, and his adventurous spirit. He was a man of integrity, kindness, and quiet strength. His presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
A celebration of Glenn’s life will be held at Charles W. Smith & Sons Funeral Home, located at 2925 5th St., Sachse, TX 75048, on February 26, 2025.
