Glenda Lynn Parker Cone, born July 5, 1944 went to be with the Lord on the morning of April 12, 2019. Glenda, the youngest of 7 children was preceded in death by her mother, Rosa Nell Parker| father, Haskell Parker| brothers Tom Taylor and Frank Taylor| sisters Marie Parker, June Gire and Margaret Hutsell.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Dale Cone of Springtown TX, daughter, Susan and son in law Carl Crain of Wylie, TX| brother Pat Parker of Denton, TX, and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Dale and Glenda married at the respective ages of 15 and 19 on February 6, 1960. Some said it would not last, but theirs was a true love story of perseverance, love and friendship. In May of 1970, the Lord blessed them with them daughter Susan and their family was complete.
Dale and Glenda were members of Lavon Drive Baptist Church, Garland TX where they both accepted Christ as their savior in September 1966. It is because of this, that her friends and family rejoice as they know they will see her again.
Glenda loved. She loved Jesus, reading, music, traveling and cooking, and…she never saw a dog or cat she did not love…..but most importantly she loved her family. Anyone who knew her knew that. She was selfless and had the kind of character that made people feel comfortable around her. As a bank teller, her customers often confided in her because of her warm smile and the trust they felt with her. Even during her many hospital stays, everyone took to her; from the one who emptied the trash to those that cared for her; she made everyone feel special. Listening and offering an encouraging word.
Over the past two and half years, Glenda endured several health issues. Multiple surgeries, complications, hospitalizations, etc. could not break her spirit. Relying on her favorite verse, I can do all things through Christ Jesus who strengthens me, Philippians 4:13, she persevered. Over the past five months, her body and mind were pushed to their limits, but her spirit was strong. She was sassy, stubborn, brave and courageous up until she drew her last breath.
She will be missed by many, but she will never be forgotten for her love and memory will carry on in those who knew and loved her.
When Jesus returns, she will be coming with him!
