Born January 26, 1939 in Clinton, Indiana and passed away January 4, 2012 in Plano, Texas.

He was the owner of an Exxon station in Richardson, Texas for seventeen years. Gilbert served in the United States Army. He had a passion for cars and loved his grandkids.

Gilbert is preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Mabel Thomas; brother, Charlie Thomas; and sister, Maryann Thomas.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Thomas; his two daughters, Cindy Rose and Carrie Thomas; his son, Doug Thomas; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Janice Perez; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M., Sunday, January 8, 2012 at Charles W. Smith & Sons Funeral Home. Service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, January 9, 2012 at Charles W. Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 2925 5th Street, Sachse, Texas 75048. Reverend Johnny Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, Lavon, Texas.
