He is survived by son, Gibson Braswell Jr. and wife Pam, daughters; Terisa Rushing and husband Jerry and Christina Braswell, grandchildren; Kevin Braswell, Kendra Parks and husband Jonathan, Rylee Rushing and Brittyn Rushing and great-grandchildren; Kevin Braswell Jr., Kylie Braswell, Kenzie Parks, and Kendall Parks and his brother, Randy.Gibson attended school in Altoga, McKinney and Princeton where he graduated from high school and was an outstanding football player until he broke his neck during a game his senior year. After graduating, he worked in the maintenance department at Safeway for 28 years and worked 10 years for Princeton ISD. His knowledge of machinery and their mechanics was uncanny, which was a trait he passed on to his three children. When he wasn't working he was farming, he was born with farming in his blood. He raised cattle until he could no longer handle the work load but continued wit his various crops, of corn, cantaloupes and hay. After he retired he was able to focus solely on his love for farming and mainly farmed hay at that time. His days of farming were often long and filled with back-breaking work but he always knew where to find the best shade tree for a short afternoon nap, or as he would say, "I'm Just resting my eyes". He was a hardworking, easy-going, friendly man who brought joy to others with his sense of humor and big smile. He could look at you with his big blue eyes and mischievous grin and you couldn't help but smile and laugh. He also loved yo socialize with people so if you started a conversation with him, you needed to be prepared to stay for awhile. Occasionally, he would take a break from the farm and enjoy other things in life. In his 20's he and a couple of his brother-in-laws had a race car that they ran on the track in Princeton. He used his thrill for speed on and off the track by out running a few cops in his day. He also enjoyed fishing and playing board games with his children and never lost a game of checkers. He always tried to make the best of what he was given and never complained. His easy-going nature allowed him not to worry about things that were out of his control , things he felt would end they way they were supposed to. He had a passion for life that he instilled in us to cherish every moment, for you never know when it might be your last. He was loved dearly and will be missed!
