Gertrude (Gert) M. Steen (formerly Murray), age 83, of Anna, Texas, passed away on August 6th at Baylor Hospital of Dallas surrounded by her loving family.
She was born May 5, 1932 in Schoenberg, Germany to Siegmund and Natalie Zlobinski.
Gert is survived by her husband, Scotty Steen; son, Clayton Patzke and his wife Kathy; grandson, Ryan Byrne; great-grandchildren, Christian, Ryan and Jameson; siblings Irene McBride, Martha Herweg and Edward Zlobinski and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Murray, three brothers, one sister and one grandson.
Gert spent many wonderful years at Fisher Control where she made countless friends and (reluctantly) retired in 2002. She was a beautiful, warm, laughter-filled woman who loved life and exuded kindness. She met her true love and soulmate, Scotty, when she was 80 and they married on July 4, 2013. They had many travel adventures together including Europe, Las Vegas, a Caribbean cruise and countless movie dates.
A celebration of Gert's life will be held Saturday, August 29 from 1:00pm-4:00pm. Please contact the family directly for more information.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in Gert's memory to the charity of your choice.
