Gerald Lewis Boehmer, 71, of Garland, Tx. passed away Sunday, November 24, 2013.
Gerald was born September 3, 1942 in New Hampton, Iowa to Edward and Clara (Ross) Boehmer . He served in the United States Air Force from 1960 - 1964. On July 5, 1964, he married the love of his life, Ophelia Kay Westbrook in Lubbock, Tx. Events brought him and his family back to Garland where he worked for Decker Foods. Gerald retired in 2008 and spent his time golfing and spending time with his family and friends, his beloved dog Bear, and most especially with his grandson, Dylan.
Gerald is survived by his son, Gerald, his daughters Loretta Stinnett, Bonnie McElveen, and Michelle Boehmer, as well as seven grandchildren: Kristen, Jessica, Dylan, Savannah, Nick, Mandi, and Zack. Gerald is also survived by his five brothers, Dugan, Duane, Leonard, Dick and Tim and many nieces and nephews. He will also be specially missed by his great friends and neighbors, Sun and Gerald Hebert.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Clara, his brother Laverne Boehmer, and his beloved wife, Ophelia Kay Boehmer.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, December 1, 2013 at Charles W. Smith and Sons, 2925 Fifth St., Sachse, Tx., 75048, Reverend Earnest Walt will officiate. Memorials may be made in his name to the Humane Society of Dallas County.
