George David Krech of McKinney, TX, formerly of Needham, MA passed away on May 30, 2014. He was born in Boston, MA on September 16, 1933 to George Henry Krech, Jr. and Adeline Caroline Thiessen. He graduated from Needham High School, Class of 1951. He married Carol Densmore Latham on January 15, 1955. He was employed in the textile industry at the William Gorse Company in Needham Heights, MA and became President and part owner until it's closure in the mid 1970's and then continued as a Consultant for Arkeba Webbing in Pawtucket, RI. He was a Comptroller for Technical Papers in Dedham, MA. He spent summer vacations with family and friends in Woodstock, VT until his retirement and move to McKinney, TX in 2000.
George is survived by twin daughters, Deborah Krech Gorman of Hopedale, MA, Donna Krech Northam and husband Robert of Hampton, NH; grandchildren, Barry Michael Gorman of Newport, RI, Craig Northam and wife Pamela of Port Orchard, WA and Torie Northam Smith and husband Aaron of Tolleson, AZ; great-grandchild Brayden Robert Smith of Tolleson, AZ. Brothers Fred W. Krech and wife Joan of Shelburne, VT, Donald W. Krech and wife Alice of McGaheysville, VA, David A. Krech of Trenton, ME and many nieces and nephews survive him.
George served in the United States Army during the Korean War. For years, he was a Town Meeting Member in Needham and elected to the Board of Assessors in the 1970's. He was a Past Master of Norfolk Lodge A.F. & A.M., a Rainbow Dad for Needham Assembly No. 57 Rainbow for Girls, a volunteer for Needham Order of DeMolay for Boys, and an active member of Saint John's Masonic Lodge #51 in McKinney, TX. He was a member and past Treasurer of The Congregational Church of Needham and a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in McKinney.
Visiting hours will be held Monday, June 9 from 2:00-4:00 PM at Charles W. Smith and Sons Funeral Home, McKinney, TX. A Service of Thanksgiving for his life will be held Tuesday, June 10 at 2:00 PM at Trinity Presbyterian Church, McKinney. A Masonic Burial will be held Friday, June 13 at 10:00 AM at Pecan Grove Cemetery, McKinney, TX.
