Gary Michael Monk, 78, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 24, 2022. Gary, the son of Jack E. Monk and Frieda Elizabeth Johnson, was born in Dallas, TX on February 1, 1944. He married Nancy Ruth Hutto on June 21, 1963.
Gary spent most of his career working at Stanley Tools as a Warehouse Manager. He also worked at Countrywide Mortgage and Construction Education Foundation (CEF of North Texas).
He enjoyed bowling and was on various bowling leagues throughout the years. He loved to be outside where you could catch him gardening, working on projects, or sitting on the front porch or deck watching the world go by. Later in life, he developed an interest in painting, and taught himself to paint by watching Bob Ross shows and videos. His favorite activity was spending time with his grandchildren, attending their various activities, and visiting with family and friends.
Gary was a devoted, son, brother, husband, Dad, Pawpaw, and friend who loved to laugh, play mischievous pranks, and make memories.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Ruth Monk; parents; mother, Frieda Elizabeth Monk; father, Jack E. Monk; sister, Carolyn Whatley; sister-in-law, Lavonda Monk; and brother-in-law, Charles Bearden. He is survived by his daughter, Cyndi Haynes and her husband, Larry of Garland, TX; daughter, Wendy McCormick and her husband, Mike of Denton, TX; grandchildren; Dylan Haynes, Saylor Stewart, Cayman Stewart, and Noah Stewart; brother, Jack Monk of Carrollton, TX; sister, Freda Bearden of Garland, TX; sister-in-law, Sandra Klein and her husband, Bob of Surprise, AZ; sister-in-law, Kayla Woodard and her husband, Arnold of Prescott, AZ; sister-in-law, Janice McClellan and her husband, Roy of Richardson, TX; brother-in-law, Jim Hutto and his wife, Gail of Palmer, AK, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews , extended family and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, November 3 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel at First United Methodist Church, 503 N. Central Expressway, Richardson, TX 75080. Please park at the main entrance. Reception immediately following service.
