Garland Leroy Haskell of Allen, Texas passed away on May 10th, 2023at the age of 94.
Garland was born on January 13, 1929, in Stonington, Maine to his parents Leroy and Charlotte
Mildred Haskell.
Garland grew up in Stonington and graduated from High School there. It was during the
Korean War era that he enlisted in the “United States Marine Corp” to serve his country. Like
others of us, he attended “Boot Camp” training in preparation for the battlefield but was
never sent to the front lines. After serving his Country for three years, he received an
“Honorable Discharge.”
After his military service, Garland attended “Flight School” in Florida and became a certified
pilot. He later became an “Airline Mechanic” and worked at various places that had to do with
flying. He loved his work and was good at what he did.
In the later years of his life, Garland made his home in Allen, Texas. Not only did he love to fly,
he also loved boating and fishing. He was a loving father and grandfather. He had a huge,
generous heart and was always putting others before himself.
Garland is survived by 2 Sons Dickey and Karl Haskell, 1 daughter Kay Stone, 7 grandchildren.
