Fred Mayo Cares

August 8, 1933 — May 23, 2015

Fred "Mayo" Cares left this world peacefully while surrounded by his loved ones, on May 23, 2015 at the age of 81.

Fred is survived by his wife, Shirley Cares; daughter, Jill Newsom and son Craig Cares; daughter-in-law Lee Cares and his 5 grandchildren Dylan Cares, Benjamin Cares, Cailee Cares, Kyle Newsom and Justin Newsom and also his siblings, Nilene Laxson (Houston Texas) and Veldon Cares (Denton Texas).

He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank Cares and Tobitha Cares-Mathews and his sister Yvonne Williams.

Fred was born on August 8th 1933 in Portales, New Mexico to Frank and Tobitha Cares. He married Shirley (Grob) Cares on July 9th 1961; they celebrated 53 glorious years together.

Fred was an accomplished Structural Design Engineer and retired from Boeing in 2000.

Fred was a kind and gentle soul who was passionate about God, his wife Shirley, their children Jill and Craig and his beautiful grandchildren. Fred was a dedicated member of the North Cities United Pentecostal Church and often volunteered his time at Waterview Golf Course, he was also an active Member of the Senior Advisory Board for the city of Rowlett, Texas.

Fred was very Patriotic and loved his country and enjoyed creating artwork that portrayed this appreciation.

The viewing service will be held on Friday evening May 29th from 6-9pm. The Home going Service will be held on Saturday the 30th at 11am. Both services will be held at North Cities United Pentecostal Church located at 502 N. Beltline Rd in Garland, Texas. Rev. D.G. Hargrove will officiate the funeral services. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Fred's life. Graveside Service will be at 1:15 P.M., Monday, June 1, 2015 in the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas 75211.
