Fred and Tracy Cantu

Fred and Tracy Cantu, residents of Murphy, TX, passed away April 10^th, 2023.

Fred Cantu, 63, was born on January 25^th, 1960 in Port Lavaca, TX, to Fred Cantu Sr. and Consuelo De Ochoa Cantu. Tracy Cantu, 57, was born on February 20^th, 1966 in Wichita Falls, to Ronald D. Thomas and Gayla Kay Wright.

Fred, a providing and devoted father, and Tracy, the most loving and supportive mother, are survived by their sons Nathan 24 and Nicholas 20; 1 granddaughter Catalina; Tracy’s mother, Gayla; siblings Tammy, Mary, Manuel, and Elvira; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

They are preceded in death by Fred Cantu Sr., Consuelo De Ochoa Cantu, Fred’s Nephew Arthur Mena, and Tracy’s grandparents Foy and Helen Sandefur.

Tracy had an infectious personality, with a smile that perfectly reflected her ability to turn any situation into a positive one. She was an insurance agent, who was passionately devoted to her job and her clients. Fred worked in the auto industry for over 25 years, who was very driven to be great at everything he did, but more than anything, he prided himself as being a provider for his family.

Fred and Tracy were married in 1997, in a small ceremony in Las Vegas, surrounded by a few loved ones. Shortly after, began growing their family. In addition to working her full-time job, Tracy was also involved with multiple community organizations and charities. She spent majority of her years raising her boys, the true loves of her life, and her greatest accomplishments. When Fred was not at work, he enjoyed being outdoors, taking fishing trips, and viewing the world from his Harley or Corvette. You could often find Fred watching sports, and if you asked his kids what his favorite team was, they would tell you “The winning team”.

Fred and Tracy often hosted family gatherings, in their home, where Tracy would work tirelessly making sure everything was perfect. Fred was hard working, driven, resilient and had a talent to make people laugh without even trying. He also took the longest to get ready, because for Fred, impression was everything! Fred was one of the most giving people you would ever meet that loved helping people. Dramatic, perfectionist, selfless, forgiving, but most of all loving, are just a few qualities we use to describe Tracy. What mattered most to Tracy was sharing her love with others and being surrounded by their love. Tracy and Fred were wonderful people, who everyone loved to be around, and their impact will forever be felt by their family. The love and devotion they had for their family were endless. Their passing has left an unimaginable gap in the hearts of their loved ones.

A memorial service will take place at 12:00 pm on April 18th, 2023, at Charles W. Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 2925 5th St., Sachse TX. 75048
