Forest Hugh Vaughn, Jr., better known as Dickie, died in Dallas, November 30, 2011 of natural causes.
Dickie is survived by his loving daughter Suzette (Suzi) Zinsmeyer and grandsons Jarred and Dalton Zinsmeyer of Plano, Texas, brothers Edwin Arnold (Dixie)of Fountain Valley, California and Charles (Valerie) Walling of Littleton, Colorado, nephews Dean Arnold and Jacob and Benjamin Walling, aunts Lillie McKee of Texas City, Texas and Louise Love of Mineola, Texas and cousins Debbie, Gary, Mike, Rick and David Love. He was predeceased by his mother, Ann Walling, and father, Forest Hugh (Dick) Vaughn, Sr.
Dickie was born in Jacksonville, Florida, February 9, 1946. His father died while Dickie was an infant so his mother returned to Texarkana, Arkansas where Dickie lived until his mother moved to Dallas in 1956. His mother married Bill Walling and they made their home in Richardson, Texas where Dickie thrived. He was one of the best youth bowlers in the Dallas area and was a member of the Richardson High School 1964 State Champion Baseball Team. After graduation in 1964, Dickie attended Tyler Junior College then entered the U.S. Air Force where he served for 4 years, including a tour of duty in Turkey.
Dickie will be remembered as a man who marched to the beat of a different drummer. He loved his poker and hanging out with his friends
A memorial service will be held at the East Gate Funeral Home Chapel, Sunday, December 4. 2011 at 2 PM.
