Ford Mastick

Ford Mastick was born May 17, 1933 in Springfield, Illinois. He was educated in Illinois receiving an Associate in Arts degree. While still in high school he joined the 44th Illinois Army National Guard Band. The 44th was activated February 2, 1951. While at Camp Cook the Band played for many celebrities, including Bob Hope, Les Brown and Holland's Queen Juliana. After basic training Cpl. Mastick served in the Occupational Forces in Germany. He received an honorable discharge June, 1953.

Mr. Mastick was employed with IBM for 30 years during which time he received many awards and recognitions. His career with IBM took him from Springfield, Illinois to management positions in Chicago, Illinois and Jackson. Tennessee. After early retirement from IBM he taught computer literacy at Jackson State Community College for 12 years.

Mr. Mastick was active in his church and was ordained Deacon and Elder in the Presbyterian Church in Springfield, Illinois. Later, active in his community of Jackson, Tennessee, he served as President of Lions Club.

Ford is survived by his wife of 61 years, Betty Mastick of Lavon, TX. They have 3 children, Ron Mastick of Amarillo, TX; Tom Mastick (Beth) of Raleigh, NC; and Janice Waggoner (Kirk) of Wylie, TX. They have 8 grandchildren - Melissa Gould, Bryan Mastick, Sara Mastick, Maggie Mastick, Michelle Mastick, Erick Mastick, Colleen Waggoner, and Harry Mastick.

Graveside Services with Military Honors will be held 11:30 A.M. Tuesday March 24, 2015 at Dallas/Ft. Worth National Cemetery with Rev. Andrew S. Odom officiating.
