Everett Smith Jones, Jr. (Chip) December 31, 1953 – August 12, 2024

Everett Smith Jones, Jr., known fondly as Chip, passed away on August 12, 2024, at the age of 70 in Rockwall, TX, surrounded by his loving family.

Chip was born on December 31,1953 in Port Neches, Texas. He graduated from North Dallas High School, where he was a standout baseball player, and soon after joined the Army, proudly serving his country. Throughout his career, Chip dedicated himself to the sales of medium and heavy-duty truck parts, a field in which he excelled and earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues and clients. His commitment to his work was unmatched.

Chip’s passion for baseball never waned. He continued to play throughout his life in various clubs, sharing his love for the sport with fellow enthusiasts and remaining an active participant well beyond his high school years.

Outside of his career, Chip was celebrated for his humor, bringing joy and laughter to everyone with his remarkable storytelling. His accidental physical comedy, marked by endearing clumsiness and good-natured antics, was a cherished trait, bringing smiles and laughter to his family and friends.

Chip had a distinct style that reflected his meticulous nature. He was known for his starched, creased blue jeans and his carefully brushed hair, always presenting himself with a polished appearance that spoke to his pride in his personal presentation. And who could forget his favorite stingray swim trunks.

Chip is survived by his wife, Susan; imaginary brother, Leon; his daughters, Amber and Shannon (and her husband, Robin); his grandchildren, Amberly, Brenton, Avery, Brily, and Aiden. He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett Smith Jones and Mary Ruth Jones; sisters, Mary Lanell Goodman and Sandra Ruth Garrett.

A memorial service to celebrate Chip’s life will be held at a later date. The family will announce the details once arrangements are finalized.

Chip will be remembered for his incredible gift of gab that could light up any room. His legacy of humor, and the joy he brought through his jokes and pranks will continue to inspire and bring smiles to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
