Evelyn Darlene Landrum

Evelyn Darlene Landrum,72, of Garland, TX slipped gently into the arms of Jesus on March 27, 2013. She was born in Plainview, Texas on April 25, 1940 to Woodrow B. and Dorothy Nell Slaughter. She met the love of her life, Welborn A. "Bill" Landrum in the Spring of her Senior year and they were married on July 24, 1958. They were blessed with two sons and a daughter. She worked for 8 years as a baker in the Plainview School District until they moved to Garland in 1980. She retired from the Garland Independent School District in 2005 after serving 23 years as Administrative Secretary. Darlene was an active member of the New Heights Baptist Church of Wylie, Texas for almost 33 years. She was also a member of the Dallas Model A Ford Club since 1996 where she served in various positions in the organization. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, family, and friends. Her hobbies were cooking, decorating cakes, sewing, and watching birds in her backyard. After her retirement. She and her husband enjoyed spending time on their farm near Athens, Texas.

She is survived by her husband of almost 55 years, Bill Landrum; son Jim and wife Tawnya of Garland; son Keith and wife Becky of Quinlan; daughter Lorinda and husband Kenny Lamb of Garland; brother Eddie Slaughter and wife Betty of Crosby,Texas; brother Lonnie Slaughter and wife Cyndy of Plainview; sister-in-law Pat Slaughter of Huffman,Texas; grandchildren - Josh Landrum and wife Amanda, Jason Landrum, Rachel Landrum, Tyler Landrum and fianc Lyndsey Fritts and her daughter Marissa, Zach Landrum and Brittany Lamb; uncle, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Woodrow and Dorothy Slaughter; brother Derrel Slaughter; niece Debbie Fletcher and great-niece Melinda Sue Johnson. Services entrusted to Charles W. Smith & Sons/ Sachse
