Emma "Kathy" Abner

Emma Katherine "Kathy" Abner, 68 years old, of Van Alstyne, Texas passed away on Tuesday, May 10, 2022.She was born in January 1954 in Cincinnati, Ohio, daughter of the late Abner and Emma Lykins (Leonard).

She is survived by her son, Dwayne Holland and his wife Jennie; 3 grandsons: Tyler, Teyton and Jesse; a sister, Connie Lykins; and a brother, Carl Lykins and his wife, Karen; and significant other, Teddy Cawoski. In addition, she leaves a number of friends, cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her son, Shane Holland; her parents, Abner and Emma Lykins; and 2 sisters, Donna Wardlow and Carol Waits.

Kathy retired as an Activities Director and had an outgoing personality that suited this career path. She loved getting her hands in the dirt and planting flowers, reading, writing, singing, playing shuffleboard at the VFW, motorcycle riding and spending time with family and friends. First and foremost, Kathy was a woman of faith and she loved helping people by sharing her testimony and finding the good in all of those she met.

Services will be held on Monday, May 16, 2022 at Charles W. Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 601 S. Tennessee St, McKinney, Texas 75069. Mark Berrier II, Pastor of Cross Road Christian Church of McKinney will be officiating. Visitation is at 9:00 am and the funeral will begin at 10:00 am with graveside service to follow immediately thereafter.
