Emil Joseph Blue

October 27, 1948 — September 1, 2018

Emil Joseph "EJ" Blue passed away peacefully on September 1, 2018, in Plano, Texas due to complications suffered from a stroke. EJ was born on October 27, 1948, to Emil Morris Blue and Doris Wright Blue in Alva, Oklahoma. He was raised in Alva and graduated from Northwestern Oklahoma State University in 1970 with a degree in psychology.

EJ married Stacy Lyne Kebert on July 26, 2000, in Lake Tahoe, Nevada, and she survives him. He is also survived by a sister, Susan Grode, and husband, Dr. Tim Grode of Edmond, Oklahoma. He was also a beloved uncle to several nieces and nephews.

EJ spent his career in the security business in Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. During the last few years of his career he had formed the security rep firm First Line Associates, where he was the managing partner. He was an avid lover of all sports, especially golf, and gun collecting was also a passion. He was an outdoorsman who loved to fish and hunt, and a dog-lover at the highest level. He loved his English Setters.

EJ will be remembered as the founder of the "Gang of Goldbugs", a group of Alva High School graduated and their collectively-adopted "Honorary Goldbugs", close friends of the members of the group. He was not only the founder but also the magnetic center of the group, and he was the moving force that kept everyone in touch with one another. Golfing, fishing trips, and get-togethers at the Tulsa Gun Show were annual Goldbug events. He was a very gifted and highly intelligent person who recognized and actively personified the importance of genuine friendship and loyalty to others; a combination rarely found in the persona of one individual. EJ knew how to be a real friend and was a true legacy.

Suggested Memorials are the Alva Education Foundation and the National Rifle Association, of which he was a lifetime member, or to a charity of choice. Online condolences can be left to the family by going to: www.cwsfuneralhome.com
