Eldridge Paul Elmore

December 19, 1937 — November 29, 2017

Eldridge Paul Elmore, born December 19, 1937 in Dallas, Texas to Mildred (Stults) and Paul “Lit” Elmore, passed away at home on Wednesday morning, November 29, 2017. He married Billie Ruth Austin on July 3, 1965 in Brownsville, Texas. They lived in Princeton, Texas for 25 years before moving to Allen, Texas in 2003. He worked for Dallas County for several years and retired from Collin County. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Allen. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Debbie Woolley. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Billie Elmore; a brother-in-law, Don Woolley; his fur-baby, Lacy; and many cousins and in-laws.

Paul loved reading the Bible daily. He had been deaf since he was 52 years old, and he couldn’t hear the sermon preached during the worship service, but he would sit there and read his Bible. For about 2 or 3 years, Paul would visit shut-ins and take them taped recordings of the worship service each week. He loved talking to people about the Lord. Before Paul got too ill and could no longer read, he had been reading a daily devotional, dated October 2017, by Charles Stanley. It was entitled “Created in God’s Image”. A subtitle of the article said, “One day, we’ll be given bodies perfectly suited for life in heaven.” Paul believed this, and took comfort in these words.

Paul loved anything to do with World War II memorabilia. He loved to build World War II model planes, ships, airfields, etc., and he donated them to a museum at the Addison Airbase. He also donated the model ships to the Naval recruiting office in McKinney. One of his model airplanes is in a restaurant in Germany. Although Paul spent many hours working on his models, and of course, reading his Bible and visiting others, he still found time to get outdoors and enjoy some hunting, fishing, and shooting firearms.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at Charles W. Smith and Sons Chapel, 601 S. Tennessee St., McKinney, Texas 75069 with Pastor James Craver officiating.
