Elaine Steitz

April 10, 1940 — April 9, 2019

Elaine Osborn Steitz was born on April 10, 1940 in Houston, TX to Lena Tucker and John Leon Osborn. She attended River Oaks Elementary, Lanier Junior High, and Lamar Senior High School. She then went on to the University of Texas where she met her future husband, Walter Richard Steitz.

They married in 1962 and faithfully served the Lord together with Campus Crusade for Christ (now CRU). In 2004, Walter passed away unexpectedly while serving in Singapore at the East Asia School of Theology. Elaine continued to serve with CRU working with International Student Wives at Dallas Theological Seminary, until her Alzheimer's diagnosis kept her from continuing to serve in that capacity.

She made an eternal impact on thousands of people that she reached for Christ. She passed away peacefully on April 9, 2019 with two of her children by her side. She is survived by her children Daniel Steitz and his wife Natalie, David Steitz and his wife Jan, Deborah Snell and her husband Steve, Jonathan Steitz and his wife Kelli, 18 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband Walter Steitz, her parents Leon and Lena Osborn, her brother Dennis Osborn and her great grandson Ari Steitz.
