Gene is survived by his children - Sue Pope (Husband -Bruce Pope) ; Bob Peavler (Wife - Elsa Peavler) Grandchildren - Paul Owings, Tripp Wallace, Dusty Wallace, Alyson Morris, Bobby Peavler, Great Grandchildren - Amber and Cody Owings, Noah Johnson, Lizann Hammond, Howard Morris, Rylie Wallace, Keegan Wallace, Houston Peavler, Kayla Avent, JJ Wallace, Brody Wallace, Elijah Wallace, Drake Wallace and Penelope Peavler. Gene grew up in Garland, Texas and graduated from Garland High in 1947. After graduation, he went to Baylor University as a English Major and after two years his precious Mother became ill and he had to come home. Gene enlisted in the Texas National Guard to serve his Country during the Korean War. Gene worked for Teledyne Geotech as the Head Buyer for over 30 years. Gene's early passions in life was playing the guitar, singing (he played in the Lefty Frizzell band where they recorded music and opened up in Dallas for Willie Nelson and Elves Presley) and riding horses.

Later in life Gene loved to travel with his wife, visiting his children and grandchildren and gamble. He loved being part of a loved, extended family. If you are reading this and part of the family, know that he loved you and your children, cousins and friends more then you will ever know. Gene cherished his time not only with his children and grandchildren but the families of Claudia Wright, Cathie Fuhrman and Cindy Murray (his nieces). Gene was a member of the Northwest Bible Church and loved his Lord. At the end of his life as he did always, he did it with humor, patience and calmness with his last words being. "Suzie I think this is our last tango" and was ready to go to his forever home with the Lord.
