Edweina Cecil Liles

May 11, 1929 — November 15, 2015

Edweina Cecilia (Ferrell) Liles, 86, passed on her journey to her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, 11/15/15, after a short illness, at a hospital in North Dallas (Carrollton), Texas. Edweina, or Eddy, as she preferred, was born in McComb, Mississippi on May 11, 1929, to parents Robert Edgar Ferrell, and Ruth Cecilia (Richmond) Ferrell, both of McComb, Mississippi. She graduated from McComb High School. She attended a 2 year business college, before being chosen as a local beauty queen for a manufacturing company in McComb, MS, where she rode on the company float. As good friends with President Truman’s niece, she enjoyed a wedding engagement party hosted by Truman’s niece. Edweina later worked 20 years as a head biller-typist for a downtown St. Louis jewelry company, The Nest Company. Edweina and Louis Everett (L.E.) Liles, were married in 1953 in Bogachitta, Mississippi. They relocated to St. Louis, Missouri, where he took a position as a Civil Engineer at McDonnell Douglas, and the family moved to Hazelwood, Missouri in 1960. She continued to live in Hazelwood until a house fire in 2002. Edweina and her son, Robert, relocated to Mckinney, Texas, in July of 2002. Edweina Liles’ three grown children include daughter, Dianna (Liles) Talcott-Asher, (her husband, Dr. Fred Asher), daughter, Edweina Louise (Liles) Bentley, (and husband, James Vernon (J.V.) Bentley), and her son, Robert Louis Liles, all currently of Mckinney, Texas. Her grandchildren include: Tonya Noelle (Talcott) Welch, (and husband, Kellen Robert Welch); granddaughter, Elissa Michelle Bentley (and fiancé, Alex Martin); and granddaughter, Jamie Louise Bentley. Edweina’s great-grandchildren include Kelton Cruz Welch (4), and his brother, Caiden Ford Welch (age 1). Edweina Liles’ is preceded in death by her parents, Ruth Richmond Ferrell & Edgar Ferrell, as well as her young granddaughter (21) Sherilyn Nicole Bentley, who passed in 2013. Edweina would tell you her purpose and joy in life was to have her three children, and to share the joy of her faith in Jesus Christ. She has been very much an inspiration, shares a very kind sense of humor, and brings joy to all she comes in contact with, so she is very loved and will be missed by all of us. We hold on to our faith and the peace and comfort we share. Edweina Liles was a long-time member of Hazelwood Baptist Church, Hazelwood, Missouri, and Park Baptist in Hazelwood, MO. The past 13 years she enjoyed Prestonwood Baptist, especially Powerpoint television ministry of Dr. Jack Graham, and also enjoyed Charles Stanley’s television ministry. There will be a family graveside service and celebration of life at the Bentley family plots of Taylor City Cemetery, Taylor, Texas, on Friday, 11/20/15, with refreshments following the Pecan Manor Bed & Breakfast in Taylor, Texas.
