Edward Joseph Poltl, Jr, 70, of McKinney, Texas, passed away January 2, 2014.
Ed was born to the late Ted and Alice Poltl in Port Chester, NY, July 23, 1943. He graduated from Milford High School after which he went into the Navy, where he served on the USS Northhampton. Ed married his soulmate, Shelba Jean Faulk, March 30, 1966. They lived in New Jersey and Florida, until moving to Texas to be closer to their son and grandsons.
Ed was a computer programmer for Eastern Airlines, System One, and EDS, before retiring in 2007. Ed was a caring and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He touched many lives with his involvement in coaching baseball in multiple youth leagues, as well as High School throughout the years. Ed had a heart of gold and will be greatly missed by those lives he touched. Ed was proud of his sobriety of 20 years and his involvement with the program. Ed was most passionate about his family, especially his grandchildren, who are the light of his eyes.
Ed is survived by his wife of 47 years, Shelba Jean Poltl of McKinney; sisters Diana Wright and Judy Fisher of Summerfield, FL; son Edward Joseph Poltl, III and his wife Beth Poltl of McKinney, TX; two grandsons Brooks Parker Poltl and Tanner Dalton Poltl of McKinney, TX; granddaughter Nicole Higdon of Richardson, TX; and great grandson Braden Higdon of Richardson, TX.
Services will be held on January 8th at 10:00 a.m. at Charles W. Smith and Sons Funeral Home, 601 S Tennessee St. in McKinney, TX. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to honor Ed to the Serenity Group of Alcoholics Anonymous.
