Dwight Ballast, age 77, passed away on June 20, 2021, after a long Illness.
Dwight was born and raised in Holland, Michigan, moving to Texas for job opportunities in 1982. He met his wife, Judy Barber, after being discharged from the military and they married February 15, 1969 at Hope Church in Holland.
He loved golf and reading until illness took that from him. He is survived by his wife, Judy Ballast and 2 children Trish Ballast of Spring, Texas and Doug Ballast and his wife, Shawna and 3 grandsons, Jaxson, Evan and Lincoln, all from Sachse, Texas, sister-in-law Claudia Barber and many friends. Other survivors include an Aunt, several cousins and Paul's son, Mark Tucker and family.
Dwight served in the Army during Vietnam and returned home and became a DJ for a local radio station. Having a wife and children to support, he turned to banking for several years. He then turned to sales, which was his passion because he loved meeting and learning about new people. He worked in Real Estate and Insurance Sales for many, many years.
He was predeceased by his father, Gerritt and mother, Jeanne Ballast Tucker, stepfather Paul Tucker and sister, Cindy Ballast Wiest, brothers-in-law, David and Denny Barber and Paul Wiest and sister-in-law, Marilyn Combs, as well as his grandparents and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
His memorial service will be July 6, 2021 at noon at Charles W. Smith and Sons funeral home, 2925 Fifth Street, Sachse, TX, 75048. Memorial contributions in his memory can be made to the American Diabetes Association.
