Dustin Tyler Nicholls

December 10, 1992 — August 22, 2016

Dustin “Dusty” Tyler Nicholls, of Sachse, Texas chose to leave this broken world on the evening of August 22, 2016. Leaving behind his mother and best friend, Shauna Jerger Perkins, also of Sachse, TX and his estranged father, Robert Nicholls of Garland, TX, siblings Abigail Rosen of North Carolina, Ethan, Malakai and Piper Nicholls, and sisters Melissa and Carissa Perkins. Dustin also leaves behind his maternal grandfather Fred “Leroy” Jerger and his wife Pauline of Wylie, TX, his paternal grandmother Sally Cowser of Garland, TX, his uncle Charles Jerger and wife Jennifer of Rhome, TX., uncle Jason Nicholls and wife Natalia of Grapevine, TX. Cousins Charleston and Finley Jerger; Bella and Alexa Nicholls. Dustin left behind a host of other family members that would take many sheets of paper to list, as well as his beloved golden lab companion, Buddy. He had two “adopted” aunts, his mom’s best friends since birth; Gabrielle Lopez of Wylie, TX and Heather Carter of Garland, TX.

Dustin is now being held in the loving arms of his maternal grandmother, Charlotte Jerger, his paternal grandfather Jack Cowser and his maternal great grandmother, “Gigi” Anna Mae Jerger.

Dustin was a graduate of MacArthur High School in Irving, TX, attended Northlake and Brookhaven College. His young life ended at age 23; raised by his single mother, her only son. They shared the same passion for music, singing and cooking together. Dustin also enjoyed games and was part of a LARP community (live action role playing). He loved interacting with each other in character and this is when he felt no sadness and where he fit in with a group.

His mother wishes to sacrifice her privacy in an effort to save even just one life by sharing Dustin’s very real illness, Depression. He suffered valiantly from the battle of this physically transparent illness since early adolescence. It is incurable and as deadly as cancer or heart disease. He finally succumbed to the final disconnection from the pain that he could no longer battle. Her hope is that something positive to emerge from this devastating loss that no family should ever have to endure.

Services for Dustin will be this Saturday, 8/27/16 @ 2PM at Charles Smith Funeral Home in Sachse, TX. A family reception will be held at Sachse’s First Baptist Church immediately following the memorial. Pastor Josh King will officiate.
