Douglas Eugene Vestal was born September 13, 1949 in Beaumont, Texas. He passed away on August 15, 2021, after a long battle with lung disease.
Douglas met the love of his life, Peggy Eileen, while working at Dow Chemical Company. They were married on June 13, 1970, and were together for nearly 48 years until she passed away in 2018. His spirit will live on through his family and all who loved him.
Douglas had a full life with his family and his career, having worked in the display and museum industries for many years. He was an excellent detailer, estimator, and project manager. Some of his most noted accomplishments include: creating structural and design drawings for The John F. Kennedy 6th Floor Museum; the NASA Space Center Museum; and the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame. Douglas also enjoyed carpentry and loved woodwork. He took pride in his work, no matter how great or small the task.
Douglas will be remembered for his kind heart, his loving spirit, his intelligence, his many talents, and his sense of humor. Most of all, he will be remembered for the way he treated others, and how he genuinely tried to make everyone he knew feel important and valued. He was loved and will be missed by many.
Douglas is preceded in death by: his wife, Peggy Vestal; his parents, CB and Charlie Bell Vestal; and his brother, Charles Vestal.
Douglas is survived by: his daughter Melody Cherry and her husband Anthony Cherry of Jonestown; and his daughter Amanda Vestal-Ondras and her husband James Ondras of Dallas.
