Douglas Wayne Grubbs was born December 11, 1970 to Benny Leon Grubbs and Mary Nell Hodges Grubbs in Kerrville, TX. Doug was raised in Ben Wheeler, TX and graduated from Van High School in 1989. He would later move to Mesquite, TX where he met the love of his life, his wife Christina.
Doug worked as a independent bread distributor whose unparralled work ethic eventually lead him to becoming President & CEO of his own corporation in the same field, with his wife working at his side. He was a dedicated family man that always put his wife and three children ahead of all else.
Doug's true lifelong passion was flying. He fell in love with airplanes, especially World War II aircraft, at a very young age. He began with remote controlled planes but that did not satisfy his passion for long and drove him to pursue obtaining his private pilots license. When he finally had his license in hand, he flew anybody that would let him. He would take close friends up, courted his would be wife in the sky and was even able to take up his oldest daughter.
Doug also loved fishing, bow hunting, video games, coin collecting and entrepreneurship. He would often crowd his and his wife's bedroom with boxes and receipts for his Ebay sales. There was nothing he could not do, a true self-taught, jack of all trades that mastered all.
Doug, age 47, passed peacefully on the morning of August 1, 2018 with his family by his side after a lengthy 3 year battle with colorectal cancer.
Doug is preceded in death by his father and mother, Benny & Mary Nell Grubbs and his half brother, Benny Lewis Grubbs.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Christina; children, Khristina, Gabriel and Alisha; father and mother in law, Reyes Jr. & Lynda Gonzales; sister and brother in law, Penny & Terry Timmons; brother and sister in law, Ryan and Amy Grubbs; sisters Cynthia Sparkman & Shelly Grubbs; brother in law, Reyes Gonzales III; nephew, Terry Jr.(TJ); and nieces, Jennifer, Shanna, Heather and Leah as well as lifelong friend Daniel Roberson and many other friends and colleagues.
