Douglas Blackburn Dillon went to be with our Lord on May 19, 2020, two days prior to his 84th birthday.
He was born May 21, 1936, to Otis and Clarabelle Dillon, in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. Shortly moving to Kilgore and Gladewater, Texas, Doug's father then secured employment with Halliburton Oil Well Cementing Company and the family moved to Duncan, Oklahoma, in 1939.
Doug attended Duncan public schools and was active in sports, student council and National Honor Society. He attended the University of Oklahoma, then transferred to the U.S. Naval Academy, Annapolis, Maryland, followed by service in the U.S. Navy.
Doug met and married his wife of 53 years, Avis Marie, deceased, in 1963.
Doug worked 31 years for the Federal Drug Administration, retiring in 1994. He then was employed in medical research quality control, including The University of Texas Southwest Medical Center and Baylor Research Institute, Dallas, Texas.
Doug coached youth basketball, and taught Bible study classes for over 50 years. He was an avid reader, and an accomplished colored pencil artist and sculptor, winning numerous ribbons at the State Fair of Texas.
Doug is survived by his son Scott Dillon, wife Nan and daughters Madison and Avery, daughter Paula, husband Greg, and their three sons and family, Ryan and Lauren Hansen, and son Noah, Josh and Miranda Hansen and Nick Hansen.
One of Doug's favorite verses was John 10:27, "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me." A strong man of faith, Doug walked the walk by following God in all he did. As a loving husband, father, Pappaw, and supportive friend, Doug blessed many lives.
