Dorothy McCann Thoirs

Dorothy Jane McCann Thoirs passed away Thursday, November 14, 2013 in Garland, Texas. She was born in Berkeley, California on March 19, 1922 to Lauren Bisbee McCann and Helen Dorothy McCann. She graduated from Ysleta High School and attended Placer Junior College in Auburn, California for one year. She retired as Supervisor in Safe Deposit Department of Texas Commerce Bank, formerly El Paso National Bank, in El Paso in 1984, after 24 years of service. She was a member of the St Paul's United Methodist Church in El Paso and enjoyed gardening, reading, playing cards and traveling.

She was preceded in death by husband, George; son, Ken; parents; sisters, Phyllis Gorton and husband Bill and Marge Ferrari and husband Ray; and sister-n-law Christine Thoirs.

She is survived by son, Bill Thoirs and wife Linda; daughters, Patti vThompson and husband Dean, Debbie Kenny and husband Joe; 10 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Bill Thoirs, Dean Thompson, Ron Gorton, Doug Jenkins, Greg Fisher, Jim Waters and Craig Foy.

Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 pm Thursday, November 21, 2013 in the Chapel of Kaster-Maxson & Futrell Funeral Home in El Paso, Texas with Internment following at Restlawn Memorial Park in El Paso, Texas.

The family would like to thank the staff of Winters Park Nursing and Rehab Center for all the compassionate care they've so graciously given along with all the wonderful friends she's made over the years there.
