Dorothy was born in Sardis, Tennessee, May 23, 1925 and died August 1, 2013 at her daughter's home surrounded by family and under the loving care of Amity Hospice.
She married Milton Day of Memphis in 1943 and moved to Garland, Texas in 1953. Dorothy was a realtor for Davis-Walls, a receptionist for Dr. John Smale, and a life-long Methodist.
She was preceded in death by Milton, her husband of 47 years, and an infant son.
She is survived by her daughter, Dianne Day Boone and son-in-law, Rev. Dr. Keith Boone; grandson, Rev. Mitchell Boone and wife, Eli VanOort; and granddaughter, Becca Boone.
A Memorial Service will be held Monday, August 5, 11:00 a.m., at First United Methodist Church in Garland, Texas. Memorials to First UMC, Garland; White Rock UMC, Dallas; or Heifer International.
