Dorothy Maxine Carver

Dorothy Maxine Carver, 96, of Garland, TX, devoted mother, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully on May 24, 2020.
Dorothy was born February 10, 1924, in Canton, Illinois, to Guy and Leona (Smith) Vaughn.
She was married for 74 years to the late Coraliss "Toby" Carver. Throughout their life together, they lived in Canton, Illinois; Pekin, IL; Cheyenne, WY; Loveland, CO, Colorado Springs, CO; and Ponca City, OK before moving to Garland in the early '90's. They enjoyed many special trips together, including Alaska and Hawaii.
While in Canton, Dorothy was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed baking pies and cookies, making homemade noodles, and crocheting. She was happiest spending time with her 8 great-grandchildren, going out to restaurants and celebrating the holidays with her close-knit family. Dorothy was actively involved in every family adventure, including trips to visit her grandson in Austin, weddings, baptisms and graduations.
Dorothy is survived by her only child Richard Carver (Janet) of Richardson, TX; three grandchildren, Jason M. (Renee) Carver of Western Springs, IL, Sara M. (Stewart) Milne of Providence, RI, and Judge Charles W. Carver of Bastrop, TX; and 8 great-grandchildren, Sophia, Sebastian, Oliver, Maximilian, Lydia and Benedict Carver, and Aiden and Camden Milne.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her only brother Harold Vaughn.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the charity of your choice.
Dorothy will be buried next to her late husband at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, May 27, at DFW National Cemetery at 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas.
