Doris Jean Lazarine 75, a resident of Allen, Texas passed away on Thursday, June 27, 2013. She was the second child of three born to Clyde & Lillian Villemez, in Port Acres, Texas on January 8, 1938.
When she was growing up as an Army brat, she traveled quite a bit with her family. Her father was a Lt. Colonel in the Army and her Mom was a housewife. They lived in New York, Japan, and various bases in Texas. She was easy going and a friend to everyone. After graduating from high school, she went to Stephen F. Austin University to be a twirler in the band, which is where she met the love of her life, Clifford Lazarine. Doris was a Home Economics major, but after two years of college she found a higher calling, she married Cliff in 1957, and left college to start a family.
Doris was married to her college sweetheart, Cliff, for 48 years before he passed away in August 2006. They were blessed with 5 children and 12 grandchildren. She also enjoyed spending time out at the family farm in Mt. Vernon, Texas.
She continued traveling through her married life living in Holland, traveling all through Europe, and finally settling down in Plano, Texas, where she lived for 35 years until she moved to Allen, Texas 4 years ago. She spent much of her time enjoying her hobbies and going to watch her grandkids in their various activities. She had a way of making everyone feel like they were very special.
Doris loved her family and she showed it often. She was the best cook in the world but, unfortunately, she didn't pass that gene on to her children. She loved to read, sew, knit, make ceramics, shop, and of course, cook and bake. She was very creative and incredibly talented. She would make homemade costumes, dresses, and many different types of homemade cookies, cakes and pies. She loved to celebrate life - the big and small events! She would decorate for the holidays like no one else. If you walked into her house at Christmas, you would feel like you were in a winter wonderland. She loved to celebrate the holidays with tradition, whether it was the Resurrection eggs at Easter, or the homemade tamales and Little Jack Horner on Christmas Eve- She made every holiday special for everyone. Doris was a very giving and caring person, as anyone who came to know her soon found out.
Surviving Doris is her 5 children; Cliff Lazarine and his wife Shana, Nancy Tabor and her husband Bill, John Lazarine and his wife Lori, Cathy Fischer and her husband Rodney, and Merri Hardin and her husband Chris. Also, her sister Betty Simanton and her husband Don, and her brother Clyde Villemez and his wife Lynn. She is preceded in death by her husband Cliff Lazarine, her parents, Clyde and Lillian Villemez, and her grandson, Chase Parker Lazarine.
