Donald Edward Smith Sr., 82, of Celina, Texas. Beloved husband, father, brother, & grandfather born on July 17th , 1940 passed away peacefully having lived a long fulfilled life on September 30th, 2022.
Preceded in death by his wife Susan Smith, parents, Charles Eugene Smith Sr. & Ora Smith. Donald is survived by his loving; daughter, Jamie Colvin; sons, Donald Smith Jr. & Wife Danelle, Derek Smith & Wife Crystal; grandchildren, Jackie Carmack and husband Justin, Taylor Colvin, Zach Hurtt, Blake Colvin, Kennedy Colvin, Cooper Smith, & Max Smith; great-grandchildren Logan Carmack & Aiden Carmack; and sister, Dorothy Martin, and numerous nieces and nephews.
No job was more important than that of a father and spiritual leader. Donald was involved with many civic, charitable organizations, and church. He was owner of E.L. Dalton Company for many years and retired at the age of 65. Later in life he got bored and decided to work again with Americorp Surveyors up till
the day he passed away. He was an air pilot, Ham Radio Operator, a founding member of HAM-COM, and Civil Engineer. He served on the Board of Trustees for Trinity Christian Academy for many years helping build a sound foundation for Christian education in the North Dallas area. He was a life-long member, deacon, and church treasurer of Marsh Lane Baptist Church. He was also a life-long member of the Salesmanship Club of Dallas. His Christian faith enabled him to be an extraordinary example of a Godly man, dad, and Papa, who presented love, faithfulness, commitment, and sacrifice. He was a provider, selfless giver, and steward for God and others, which left a lifetime of legacies.
Finally, he will always be remembered for his humble attitude and giving heart, never did he let a need go unmet.
A viewing to be held at Charles W. Smith and Sons Funeral Home, Sachse, TX. On Wednesday October 5th, from 11:00 a.m. 12:00 p.m.
