Senior Chief Petty Officer Donald D. Chizk (USN, Ret.)
Don passed away the evening of August 6, 2018 in Plano, Texas after battling extended illnesses.
He was born June 10, 1939 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois to Abner and Dorothy (Terry) Chizk.
Don began his military career serving a single tour with the United States Army. He then enlisted with the United States Navy where he finished his 20 year career. During his time with the military he served as a Hospital Corpsman and as a Field Medical Service Technician. Among Don's many medals earned were his Purple Heart in The Vietnam War, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Combat Action Ribbon.
Don married the love of his life, Lynda Dickson, in Washington D.C. in 1961. Together they raised their son, Don Jr.
Don was a Godly man who enjoyed most of all being with his family, especially his grandkids. In his spare time he loved to read and cheer on the Texas Rangers.
Don is survived by his wife Lynda, son; Don Jr. (Amy), grandchildren; Mason (Georgie), Sydney Durham (Preston), and Sophie Chizk. He is also survived by siblings; Mr & Mrs Max Chizk, Sherry Ramon (Gilbert), Marjorie Rector (Jeff) and Rosemary Chizk.
Don is preceded by his parents, brothers; Tommy & Jerry, and sisters; Carol Chambliss and Barbara Chizk.
