Born July 19, 1926 in Ouachita Parish, Louisiana and passed away December 2, 2011 in Sachse, Texas.
After graduating LSU, Don married his college sweetheart, Virginia, on Valentine's Day in 1948. The timeless love he had for Virginia was an inspiration to everyone he knew.
After hurricane Katrina, he moved to the Dallas area to enjoy life with his daughter, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed volunteering at Baylor Medical Center of Garland and loved to play golf. Don was a longtime member of Buckingham United Methodist Church and later joined Sachse First United Methodist Church.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Marjorie Aswell; his parents, Luther and Lucille Aswell; sister, Minnie Craft; and two brothers, Harold Aswell and Robert Aswell.
Don is survived by his wife and soulmate of sixty-two years, Virginia Aswell; daughter, Carol Campion and her husband, Laurence; son, Paul Aswell and his wife, Meg; six grandchildren, Larry Campion, Melissa Herrington and her husband, Jason, Meredith Kedierski and her husband, Chris, Andrew Aswell and his wife, Amanda, Hope Muller and her husband, Chris, and Mary Aswell; ten great-grandchildren, brother, James Aswell and his wife, Maybelline; and sister in-law, Betty Aswell
Service will be at 3:oo P.M., Visitation starting at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, December 4, 2011 at Charles W. Smith & Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Sachse. Reverend Anna Houseman-Butler officiating.
