Don King Drummond was born to Annie and James Drummond on March 5, 1941 in Dallas County, TX. He passed away September 3, 2019. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Barbara Drummond, and daughter Lee Ann Wilson of Winter Garden FL. His grandchildren are Jackson William and Hendlee Addyson Wilson, and his son-in-law is Russell William Wilson. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Joy Waller.
Don was a 1959 graduate of Sunset High School. He attended Arlington State College, now known as The University of Texas at Arlington. Later he joined the Army as a medic at Fort Sam Houston outside San Antonio. After the Army, he worked for the family business, Drummond Oil Company, until the early 1980's. He later became a self-employed general contractor.
He is most known for his love of dogs and their love of him. Don's enthusiasm for nature was apparent in more than just his love of his precious dogs. As a young man, he enjoyed participating in Cub Scouts with Ronnie Wester, who would become a life-long friend. Additionally, he encouraged and led his daughter, Lee Ann, in her participation of Indian Princesses through the YMCA. He, along with his brothers-in–laws, taught, coached, and played many chess games while camping in the mountains of Colorado with his nieces, nephew and daughter.
Don and Barbara have been members of First Baptist Church of Garland for 39 years. Don volunteered to be a member of The Baptist Men. He was also in the cookie rotation in the Barnabas class. He loved that job. Don led his extended family through many meal-time prayers and was a leader to all. His faith was inspiring.
Don was kind and willing to help. He loved being with his family and his dogs. He will be missed, but never forgotten, by his friends and family. His smile and his warmth, his love and his kindness, will continue to be felt and remembered by all who love him.
