Diane Smith

November 23, 1942 — August 19, 2022

Diane Grace Smith (nee Beaumont) was born on November 23, 1942, in Cleveland, Ohio, just as the United States was becoming more involved in WW II. Her father David H. Beaumont, served as a medic for the Armed Forces from 1943-45. He was harbored and cared for by a French family shortly before his return. Diane's earliest memories stem from her time at her grandmother's beauty shop at the corner of Green and Mayfield Roads, where her mother, Frances Hooker (nee Coreno) worked as a beautician. When she was 6, Diane contracted polio, and eventually recovered fully, starting first grade in a wheelchair. In 1957, Diane was a majorette for the Cleveland Browns. She married at 16, and became a mother at 17.

Diane's love for animals was clear; she became an accomplished equestrian during the 1970's and won many ribbons. She was always surrounded by dogs, cats, and adopted furry friends, such as birds and squirrels. She even raised some tadpoles into frogs. She worked for the Kroger company in the 1960's and early 70's, then took a job as a conference planner with Conferon in Solon, Ohio. Diane and her husband Joseph D'Agostino moved to Dallas, Texas in 1980, where Diane took a position as the Executive Assistant to Ray Hunt at Hunt Oil Company. She had the privilege to attend the Republican National Convention, traveled to Yemen, and met President George H. W. Bush. Diane retired from the company.

Diane's interests included worldwide travel, photography, and interior decorating. After retirement, she became interested in personal coaching. She also trained to become part of the Citizen's Police Academy in Rowlett, Texas along with her husband, Harold G. Smith.

Diane passed away on August 19th , 2022, from complications related to Alzheimer's. She is survived by her husband, Harold G. Smith, of Fort Worth, two daughters, Sheri Lynn Sharp (John Sharp) and Cynthia Louise Taylor (Randy Taylor); five grandchildren: Christopher Moyer (Troylene), Paul Moyer (Natalie), Michelle Pease (Joseph), Jill York (Joshua), and Abigail McBride (Brandon); and nine great grandchildren. An anticipated memorial service is tentatively scheduled for September 8, 2022, at 10am at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church (in the chapel) in Garland, Texas, followed by a burial service at Restland. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Diane's name to the Alzheimer's Association.
