Dewie was born on December 27th, 1944 in Los Angeles and grew up in Ajijic, Jalisco just south of Guadalajara. From an early age she was a talented singer and was known and loved for her Mexican folk music. She married Pete Quortrup on September 17th, 1977 and they had a daughter, Sarah. Dewie was also a wonderful and loving stepmom to Pete’s sons Benjamin and Oben. Dewie was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s disease in 2007 and her open, loving, graceful and incredibly happy nature came into full bloom as she made her remarkable journey with ALS, choosing life and joy at every turn.
