With great sorrow, we announce the sudden passing of Dennis Wegehoft, a beloved husband, Father, Papa, and friend. His approach to life and others was one of immense love and kindness that made him a friend to all. He was a source of strength to those who knew him, and he gave selflessly of himself to everyone around him without expecting anything in return. He will be deeply missed by his family and all those whose lives he touched.
Dennis, 76, passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 in Richardson, Texas. He was an only child born to Harry and Doris Wegehoft in Jacksonville, Illinois on May 22, 1947. Dennis met the love of his life, Mary Frances Pryor, in Fort Worth, Texas while attending Texas Christian University. They were married August 9, 1969 and spent 53 wonderful years together celebrating their love for each other in marriage. Together, Dennis and Mary Frances raised 4 children and were further blessed with 9 incredible grandchildren.
Dennis was a proud Veteran of the United States Army serving as a 1st Lieutenant and an Airborne Ranger. At the completion of his military service, Dennis went on to have a successful career in the banking and insurance industry. He retired in 2010.
Loving Mary Frances and supporting his children and grandchildren in every endeavor they took on was Dennis’ first priority at all times in his life. He never missed a recital, baseball game, school event, or graduation. Full of joy and pride in those he loved, he came not only with encouraging words, but that infectious smile none of us will ever forget. Always your greatest cheerleader he celebrated every accomplishment no matter how large or small. A quick glance into the stands and you could be sure he was there cheering you on.
He instilled in all of us the importance of family, dedication, hard work, integrity, and faith in the Lord. Dennis had many passions and talents one would expect of someone who lived life to its fullest. He was a master of the grill and had the trophies to prove it. He was an avid golfer, fisher, and athlete in life. He could tell a great joke, and loved time with friends. Whether that was hanging out on the dancefloor or traveling the country, he valued his friendships for the treasure they were.
He was a creative at heart. He could fix or build anything. He loved tending to his yard and creating his own landscape. He was a master story-teller, and if you were lucky enough to know Dennis for long enough he would tell them to you more than once. He loved country music, and he was by far and away the best 2-step partner in the world. Hold on though he only had an eye for Mary Frances.
Dennis is survived by his beloved wife of almost 54 years, Mary Frances Wegehoft; his children - Jason Wegehoft and his wife, Casee; Krista Bradley and her husband, Brian; Allyson Campbell and her husband, Ryan; and Kathryn Guerra and her husband, Justin. His grandchildren - Addison Wegehoft, Megan Bradley, Taylor Bradley, William Bradley, Lauren Bradley, Sawyer Campbell, Audrey Campbell, Jackson Guerra and Grayson Guerra. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Doris Wegehoft.
