Delores Gunter Smith was born March 21, 1957 in McKinney, Texas to Haskell (Cotton) and Catherine Gunter. After a short battle with cancer, she passed away on January 22, 2021 at the age of 63 surrounded by her loved ones.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a niece, a grandson and a great-granddaughter.
She is survived by her children Kristy Wallace and husband Brian of Prosper, Kevin Dane and wife Brandi of Pilot Point, Kimberly Harpole and husband Chad of Tioga, Alan Dane of Pilot Point, her sister Donna Wilmeth of McKinney, her adopted daughter Carrie Gilmore of Princeton, and her 14 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her step-son David Wayne Mitchell, along with numerous other relatives.
Delores loved to travel, even if she didn't get to do it as often as she liked. She took numerous cruises in her adult years to various destinations in the Caribbean. Her hobbies included crocheting and making memory blankets for loved ones.
Delores wrote a letter to her kids letting them know that she loved them very much and had prayed for them every night. She wished that she had been able to make more memories with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Delores loved her family and would do anything she could to help them. She will be dearly missed by a lot of people.
