Delbert (Del) was born in Quinter, KS to Alfred and Helen Engel of Gove, KS. Del enlisted in the United States Air Force immediately after graduating high school. He served his country for twenty years and retired as a Tech Sergeant with full honors. He then moved to Texas and continued his trade in electronics testing & calibration in a civilian capacity, first at Tucker Electronics and then with Fujitsu Network Communications.
He met his wife of 58 years at his sister’s wedding. He and his bride, Patricia Schumacher, married in 1959 and had two children, David and Sandy.
Del enjoyed reading the paper every day, watching sports (especially his favorite teams: the Green Bay Packers and the New York Yankees), doing crossword puzzles, working with ceramics, playing cards, tinkering with and repairing anything electrical, and spending time with his family, friends, and only grandchild, Alexandra (Alex).
Del was preceded in death by both his parents and all three of his sisters: Cecelia, Verlene, and Marita.
Del is survived by his wife Pat, his son David, his daughter Sandy and her husband David, and their daughter Alex.
