Deborah Janice Frick

July 5, 1954 — December 17, 2024

Sachse

Deborah Janice Tabor Frick, 70, of Sachse, TX was welcomed home by her Heavenly Father on December 17, 2024.

Debbie was born to William Dean and Janice Marie Brown Tabor in Bedford, Indiana on July 5, 1954. As a young child she was born into the family of God through the washing of Holy Baptism.

Her family was the first in many generations to move beyond the southern Indiana area. She lived in various parts of the Midwest as her family moved over the years, meeting her husband, Michael Frick, in Milwaukee in 1974. Married in 1976, Mike and Debbie had two boys, Joshua and Matthew, and relocated to Texas in 1982.

Having initially studied nursing in college, Debbie paused her studies to take on the responsibilities of wife and mother while also selling Mary Kay cosmetics. Later, she went back to school and became a teacher, working in elementary education for 19 years and earning a Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction. After retiring from teaching, Debbie earned a second Master's degree in Library Science and became a Certified Archivist. For the past 10 years, Debbie worked in the records department at High Ground Advisors.

As a young girl growing up around a large extended family in Bedford, Debbie was always curious to understand the relationships between her family members. This became a lifelong passion for history and genealogy. Her research led her to understand her relationship to the Daughters of the American Revolution and uncover many stories from the lives of her ancestors. She was thrilled to volunteer as a docent at the George W. Bush Presidential Library and was a lifelong learner, particularly enjoying historical and political topics. Only the best mothers are promoted to grandmother. Debbie was promoted in 2013, welcoming Joseph Frick, and doubled her delight in 2015, welcoming William Frick. As a doting grandmother, Debbie loved to plan activities for her grandsons, understand their personalities, and watch them grow.

Debbie was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2020. Her indomitable spirit and the strength of her faith was an inspiration throughout her fight. She is survived by her husband, Reverend Michael Frick, sons Joshua Frick and Matthew Frick (Tina Frick), and grandsons Joseph Frick and William Frick. A memorial service will be held at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 7611 Park Lane, Dallas, TX 75225 on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider honoring Debbie with a donation to Lutheran Bible Translators, PO Box 789, Concordia, MO 64020 (https://www.lbt.org). The cause of Bible translation was near and dear to her own mother's heart, and Debbie always wanted to establish a fund for this purpose in memory of her mother, Janice Marie Brown.
