Dean Hanson, 74, of Wylie, Texas, passed away on January 1, 2021 after an exhausting battle with cancer.
Dean was born on August 27, 1946 to Dewey and Elizabeth Hanson in Hugo, Oklahoma.
Dean made a living as auto technician for over 50 years. In 1963, he met Frances in California and they wed on October 2, 1964, going on to have five children and four grandchildren. Dean made Texas his home for over 50 years.
Dean was a force of nature, determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he often mentioned. He was unendingly proud of all his children and grandchildren and always tried his best to support them in all their dreams.
Dean was deeply passionate about spending time making memories with his family. This was often done during the annual hunting excursion off the grid in Oklahoma. Although this hunting tradition has been going strong over 40 years, he could not bring himself to pull the trigger even when the target was well within his range. He also loved the camping experience, especially spending time around the campfire telling stories of memories already made and he always had a joke in his pocket ready to tell. If he had nothing to do you could find him enjoying the outdoor sun on the porch.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents; Dewey Hanson and Elizabeth Herndon Hanson, his brothers; Bobby Wayne Hanson and John Carroll Hanson, and his sister, Virginia Sue Yardley. He is survived by his wife; Frances Ann Burns Hanson, his children; Michael Dean Hanson, Deborah Lynn Hanson, Christy Ann Hanson Hebrank, Curtis Lee Hanson and Christopher Dean Hanson, his grandchildren; Dylan Jacob Hanson McCright, Savana Deann Hanson, Tyler Nicole Hanson and Taylyn Elizabeth Hanson, his sisters; Louise Johnson and Martha Maynard, his brothers; Sam Hanson, Jim Hanson, Bill Hanson, Charlie Hanson, Less Hanson and many nieces and nephews and in-laws. He loved all of them dearly.
The family requests that all flowers and notes are sent to Charles W. Smith and Sons Funeral Home, 2343 Lake Road, Lavon, TX 75166. There will be a Graveside Service on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at Lakeview Cemetery at 2343 Lake Road, Lavon, TX 75166, and Celebration of Life immediately following at 1045 Bear Creek Ranch, Nevada, TX 75173
