David Ray Young

David Ray Young, 55, was born on July 5, 1958 in Abilene, TX. to Morris and Jeanette Young. He passed away on October 12, 2013 in Sachse, TX. After a battle with cancer. He fought the good fight, and, through his faith in Jesus Christ, he was victorious.
David grew up in Odessa, TX. before moving to the Dallas area in 1983. He worked in the plumbing field prior to holding the positions of Plumbing Inspector and Plans Examiner at the City of Plano and Building Official for the City of Murphy. David and the love of his life, Cathy, were married on January 17, 1981. He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Sachse. His hobbies included NASCAR, sailing, hunting, and fishing. He joined the Venture Sailing Club of Dallas in 1987 where he made numerous special friendships that continued through the rest of his life. David is survived by his wife, Cathy; a sister, Sharon Moody of Snyder, TX.; a brother, Aubrey Young of Buckeye, Arizona; and a step-sister, Joella Parker of Eldorado, TX. Services entrusted to Charles W. Smith and Sons Funeral Home.
