David Wayne Vanderford, lovingly known as "Pops", went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at the age of 80. He was born on March 20, 1941 in Sweetwater, Texas to Lonnie Aston and Mary (Carder) Vanderford.
Pops had many hobbies he loved, which included archery, photography, golf, remote controlled airplanes, and anything his kids enjoyed. He loved sharing recipes, raising animals, and wood working. Pops was a cattle rancher and dairy man. After retiring from the dairy business, he worked at Rubbermaid for more than a decade and retired in 2006. He attended Texas A&M and became a diehard Aggies fan. Indeed, he loved all sports, especially the SEC.
Pops is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Sylvia Vanderford of McKinney, Texas; daughter, Kim Barton and husband, Adam of Nacogdoches, Texas; son, Cody Vanderford and wife, Shirley of Oak Point, Texas, daughter, Sabra Godair and husband, Russell of Hideaway, Texas; grandchildren, Lauren Vanderford, Jason Vanderford and wife, Carly, Tyler Vanderford, Tara Kalliainen and husband, Spencer, Ryan Balliett and wife Emily, Sarah Barton, and husband John Rodriguez, Aden Barton, Elijah Godair, Zeke Godair, and Micah Godair; great-grandchildren, Kadence Hardy, Ella Kendrick, Olivia Vanderford, Levi Rodriguez, and baby boy Vanderford will arrive in January 2022.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie Aston Vanderford and Mary Carder Vanderford.
