Darrel Dwayne Baird

Darrel Dwayne Baird, age 56, of McKinney, Texas passed away July 21, 2012. He was born October 14, 1955 in Houston, Texas to Billy James Baird and Carolyn Maxine (Chumley) Baird (Martin). He was preceded in death by his father, Billy James Baird. Darrel graduated from Brownwood High School in 1974 and then attended the University of Texas at Arlington. He spent the majority of his career working as a pipeline construction engineer, a career which took him all over the United States and to many international countries, where he never met a stranger and forged so many lasting relationships. Darrel loved spending time with his wife Lucy, his sons and grandchildren. He also enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports, telling stories, cooking for his family and was an avid follower of the Dallas Cowboys. He is survived by his wife, Mary "Lucy" Baird of McKinney, Texas; sons, Brandon Baird and wife, Deidre of McKinney, Texas, Taylor Baird and wife, Meredith of Dallas, Texas; mother, Carolyn Martin of Pasadena, Texas; grandson, Dylan Baird of McKinney, Texas; granddaughter, Lindsay Baird of McKinney, Texas; brother, Rodney Baird and wife, Jana of Boerne, Texas; nephews, Jake Baird and Luke Baird. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 25, 2012, at Wesley United Methodist Church, 2705 West Virginia Parkway, McKinney, Texas 75071.
