Danny L. Harris died unexpectedly on the March 21, 2021. Danny was affectionately known as the caretaker. Danny did whatever needed to be done for the ones he loved. Especially his wife, Kristi, son, Austin, mother, Nellie, and mother-in-law, Joyce. Danny didn't have to tell you that he loved you, because he showed you every single day.
Danny was born to Bobbie and Nellie Harris in Garland, Texas on October 6, 1957. He was a country boy – no putting on airs, no phoniness, no expecting something for nothing, and no thinking he was any better than anyone else. Though the length of his time on this earth was short, his impact will be felt forever.
While Danny was committed to excellence in his work and built beautiful homes, this isn't about what Danny did. It is about who he was. A loving husband. The best dad ever. A son who doted on his mother and mother-in-law. A brother who would do just about anything for his brother and sisters. His circle of people mattered most to Danny, and they knew it.
Danny loved to fish and spent his free time catching crappie on Lake Palestine in Ladybug, his Skeeter boat. He was a respected grill master and was well on his way to becoming a pitmaster. He spent most weekends cooking for a crowd that gave nothing but 5 star reviews. He could two-step better than most, and the pride he felt for Kristi was always beaming when he moved her across the dance floor. Danny had some of the best times of his life when he was with Austin – hunting, fishing, golfing, or just being together at home. Their relationship was built on a strong and trusting connection that modeled the bond between Danny and Kristi.
Danny has left behind family and friends who are grieving for the extra time that they do not get to spend with him but are eternally grateful for the time that they did. Loved ones who cleared the path for Danny include his father, Bobbie Harris, and sister, Debra McCreary. Loved ones who will miss Danny until the day they get to meet again include his wife, Kristi Harris; son, Austin Harris and his wife Laura; mother, Nellie Harris; sister, Cyndi Harris; brother Bobbie Don Harris and his wife Larina; mother-in-law, Joyce Hampton, and many nieces and nephews, cousins, and loved ones.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or SPCA of Texas in memory of Danny Harris.
